I Evighet

I evighet is a song, written in 1991 by Torhild Nigar and sung in 1996 by Elisabeth Andreassen in Norwegian language version and Swedish language version. The Swedish language text was co-written by Thorhild Nigar, Elisabeth Andreassen and Åsa Jinder. The song is a combination of a soft ballad and hymn, and the melody is slow, but in the refrains Elisabeth Andreassen sung higher. It's not a fast melody. With the Norwegian language version, Elisabeth Andreassen won the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix 1996 and finished second in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996. In 1996 the song also came out in English language version, as Eternity. The single record contained the song in Norwegian language, English language, Swedish language and instrumental version. In 1998 the song got a special-written German language text, Wir sind dabei, when the German sporting federation celebrated 100 years party. The German sporting federation made "Wir sind dabei" as their officiell hymn at this celebration, which was held in Munich in the Bundesland Bavaria in Germany. During the ten day long celebration, Elisabeth Andreassen sang the song in many language version. She sang from the Munich Mayor's balcony in the Munich City hall and the Munich Olympic Stadium.

The German language text "Wir sind dabei" is about sports, other versions about love and they describe how the evening comes, days and years disappear, but according to the song text, love will always exist. The German language version is about a positive attitude to sports and being a member of a sports club.
Torhild Nigar, the composer of the song, first wanted to have the song on her 1994 debut album "Stille vann". This never happened. European Broadcasting Union (EBU) talked about disqualifying the song, but this never happened.
