I Could Have Danced All Night

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"I Could Have Danced All Night" is a song which originated from the musical My Fair Lady and was supposedly sung by Audrey Hepburn in the film version of the musical. However, as with many movie-musicals of the time, the singer who doubled for Audrey was Marni Nixon. One of the first singers to have sung this song would have been Julie Andrews when the musical was appearing on Broadway.

This song has often been a measure of a Singer's soprano abilities, particulary in talent contests such as How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?. This Song was particulary favoured by the 3rd place contestant, Siobhan Dillon, 21, a fashion student from Staffordshire.

The music was written by Frederick Loewe, the lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner. The song was published in 1956.

Hit versions of the song were recorded by Sylvia Syms, Dinah Shore, Frank Sinatra, and Jamie Cullum.
