This was a thinly veiled cry for help from Crosby. While giving allusions to paranoia and insanity from the point of view of a helpless and vulnerable individual, Crosby still found a way to relate in a manner that was nonetheless dignified and retaining of integrity. This would influence many heavy metal lyricist for years to come. Crosby's style of writing was mimicked by Phil Anselmo, Jonathan Davis, Aaron Lewis, and countless others.
