"I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" is a Juno Award winning song by Canadian singer Shania Twain. It was the first single released from her 2002 album Up!. The song was written by Mutt Lange and Shania Twain. "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" was originally released to American radio on September 23, 2002. Shania chose "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" as the first single for Up! since she felt it was relatable to past Shania singles, and she didn't want something too unfamiliar. The song has become one of her biggest hits worldwide, charting in different countries that she has never had hits in before.

 The feverish anticipation at Country Radio for Shania Twain's new set could be compared to, say, the California Gold Rush of the 1850s. Not two seconds after her new single was digitally zapped to stations, "Getcha" was spinning on nearly 150 reporting outlets, scoring a monumental debut at No. 24 on this week's Hot Country Singles & Tracks. No doubt the format feels a dire need for an almighty presence to lift it from persistent ratings doldrums, and despite a hot set from the Dixie Chicks, Shania is the most likely candidate to lure listeners to Country from Top 40, AC, or wherever else they seem to be hiding. The song itself, frankly, is pretty standard fare for the artist, from its ticklish "woman taunting man" theme, guitar breaks taken right from "That Don't Impress Me Much", and a spoken-word intro, a la "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!". Even so, "Getcha" is one catchy little puppy, and Twain sounds as potent and coy at the mike as ever. We're going with the assumption that this first look into her forthcoming UP! is more a reminder of where we've been than where she's planning to take us, so we'll take this lightweight song in stride--looking forward to what's really new.

The music video for "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" was shot in London, UK and directed by Paul Boyd. It was filmed on August 22 and 23, 2002 and debuted on CMT on October 4, 2002. The video is set in a futuristic setting, with Twain riding a motorcycle trying to escape a flying robot, at the end of the video Twain finds a clone of herself performing behind glass, which she breaks. The video was a success, peaking at number one on VH1's weekly countdown. The video won the Best Video of the Year Award at the 2003 Canadian Country Music Awards, and Concept Video of the Year at the 2003 CMT Flameworthy Awards. The 'Red SFX Edit' version of the video is available on the DVD-Audio version of Up!.

"I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" debuted on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart the week of October 19, 2002 at number 24, the third highest debut ever, and highest by a female artist. The single spent 20 weeks on the chart and climbed to a peak position of number seven on December 7, 2002, where it remained for one week. "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" became Twain's thirteenth top ten single and seventeenth top twenty single.

At adult contemporary radio, "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" debuted at number 27 the week of November 16, 2002, the highest debut of the week. The single spent 26 weeks on the chart and climbed to a peak position of number ten on December 21, 2002, where it remained for three non-consecutive weeks. "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" became Twain's fifth top ten single and sixth consecutive top twenty single.

"I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" became Twain's third biggest single in the UK, only behind "That Don't Impress Me Much" and "Man! I Feel like a Woman!". It also became her fifth consecutive, sixth overall, top ten single. It debuted on November 16, 2002, at it's peak at number four. It remained on the entire chart for 15 weeks.[1] In Canada the commercial single peaked at number one for one week. The song also gained enough airplay in Romania to hit the number one spot.

In all, the song hit the top ten in fourteen countries: Canada, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" hit the top five on major international charts like the Europe Top 100, the United World Chart and the World Top 100.

As Twain had been out of the media spotlight for several years, and that "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" was the lead single from a brand new album, the singer had to perform the song worldwide, to help bring her back into the limelight, and sell the album (as well as the single). Promotion started in Europe, where in Germany she performed on Wetten, dass..?, in the UK she performed at BBC, Royal Variety Show, CD:UK, and Top of the Pops. In Sweden she performed the single on Bingolotto and in Portugal she performed on the Herman SIC Show. In Italy she performed at the Festival della canzone italiana. Following promotion in Europe she head to Japan where she performed at the Japan Music Festival. In November of 2002, she head to North America, where she performed the song for the first time at the 2002 Country Music Awards on November 6. In New York the song was performed on The Late Show on the album release day (November 19) and The Today Show. In Canada Shania headlined the Grey Cup half time show from Edmonton, and performed "I'm Gonna Getcha Good!" and "Up!" on November 24. In 2003 the song was also perfromed on the American Music Awards in a medley with "Up!", the Early Show and Vh1 Big in '03.
