IMDb profile |
I'll Do Anything is a 1994 film, starring Nick Nolte and Albert Brooks, about a down-on-his-luck actor suddenly in charge of his six year old daughter It is notable for having been originally conceived and shot as a musical (with some songs written by Prince).
The test audience's reactions to the music were so overwhelmingly negative, that all production numbers from the film were cut. One of the original songs meant to be performed in the film appears under the closing credits. While other versions of songs penned by Prince resurfaced on one of his later projects (The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale), none of the performances from the movie were ever released.
Interestingly enough James L. Brooks mentioned in early 2005 that he would like to release the "Directors Cut" including the music and a documentary, however a lack of musical rights prevents such a thing from happening.
