UK 7" cover |
"Hysteria" is a song by English rock band Muse and is featured on their third studio album, Absolution. It was also released as a single from that album on 2003-12-01 in the United Kingdom, peaking at #17 in the UK Singles Chart (see 2001 in British music).
The artwork for the 7" cover was chosen by competition, and the winner was Adam Fulkus.[citation needed] The runner-up images are included in the DVD version of the single. The song was performed regularly during the tour in support of Absolution and appears on the Absolution Tour DVD
The song's video was based on the hotel-trashing scene from the movie Pink Floyd: The Wall. An alternative video was also created for the release of the single in the U.S. which features the band playing in a darkened room with floating spheres in the background.
Television channel TNT used "Hysteria" in its commercials in late 2004. It is also used in commercials for Guerlain's Insolence perfume. It is also being used by the Washington Capitals as a musical introduction to the second period of their home hockey games during the 2006-07 NHL Season. [citation needed]
Hysteria enjoyed great success on MTV2 reaching Number #3 on the MTV2 Rock Countdown.
