Hysham is a town in Treasure County, Montana, United States. The population was 330 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Treasure CountyGR6.

Hysham is located at 46°17′26″N, 107°13′48″W (46.290535, -107.229929)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 330 people, 150 households, and 91 families residing in the town. The population density was 606.7/km² (1,574.8/mi²). There were 172 housing units at an average density of 316.2/km² (820.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 94.55% White, 3.94% Native American, 0.30% Asian, and 1.21% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.91% of the population.

There were 150 households out of which 24.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.0% were married couples living together, 5.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.7% were non-families. 37.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 21.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.20 and the average family size was 2.83.

In the town the population was spread out with 25.5% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 18.2% from 25 to 44, 31.2% from 45 to 64, and 20.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.7 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $30,179, and the median income for a family was $39,063. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $18,750 for females. The per capita income for the town was $15,743. About 5.8% of families and 13.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 20.2% of those under age 18 and 9.6% of those age 65 or over.
