Hymn (song)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Hymn" was a 1982 hit single from Ultravox's 6th studio album Quartet (4th studio album recorded with singer Midge Ure) that reached #11 on the UK Top 40 singles chart. The song was written by Warren Cann, Chris Cross, Billy Currie and Midge Ure and produced by George Martin.

The melody line is borrowed from the Zones' "Mourning Star"". Lyrically, the song is more a sermon than a hymn (or, at the very least, a psalm), with Midge Ure taking his lesson broadly from the Bible.

The song has been covered by numerous dance acts including Cabballero (1994), German electro project Music Instructor (1995), Tina Cousins (2004) and Age-Pee (2006).
