Hyde farm estate
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Hyde Farm Estate is a residential area situated in Balham, a district of south London, in the United Kingdom. The Hyde Farm Estate was developed between 1896 and 1916 by Ernest Hayes-Dashwood. The estate is bounded to the south by Emmanuel Road, which in turn determines the northern boundary of Tooting Common. To the east, the boundary is formed by Radbourne Road, with Hydethorpe and Scholar's Roads to the north and west, respectively, completing the perimeter.
The E Hayes-Dashwood Foundation was established in 1945 to provide low-cost housing to infirm or disabled ex-servicemn and their widows. It now owns approximately one hundred of the properties in the area, most of the remainder having been sold to leaseholders or to other housing associations.

On 13th February 1996 the London Borough of Lambeth designated a portion of the estate as a Conservation Area under the Civic Amenities Act 1967.
