[edit] History

Created by the deranged "Mento" (AKA Steve Dayton), the Hybrid was meant to be his version of the Doom Patrol. But, whereas the Doom Patrol was made up of people who received their "conditions" accidentally, the Hybrid members got their powers from Dayton's experiments with promethium, a substance which Dayton Industries perfected during the time that Mento was searching for Madame Rouge and General Zahl. Most members of the Hybrid were also involved in accidents, but it is speculated that Mento mentally engineered these accidents with his helmet.

[edit] Freedom

The Hybrid never wanted to fight the New Teen Titans, only doing so while under Mento's influence. A final conflict with the Titans showed the Hybrid the error of their ways. With no support, Mento tried a singular assault, only to be stopped by the Titan Raven. She cleansed his mind and soul and the Hybrid took Steve Dayton with them as they began a search for their place in the world.

[edit] Roulette massacre

A mysterious villainess named Roulette runs "The House," a fight club for the super-powered. At some point, Hybrid members were abducted and forced to battle. Most of them were seemingly slain, as they appear on the "Fallen Players of the House" remembrance wall. Gorgon, Harpi, Prometheus, Touch-N-Go, Behemoth and Scirroco are listed as 'fallen'; Pteradon is the only member not accounted for among the dead.

[edit] Membership and Bio

[edit] Behemoth

Taro Raiden was a Sumo wrestler who was born a mutant; he was always bigger and taller than his peers. The 9-foot tall villain served Steve "Mento" Dayton and voluntarily underwent the promethium conversion.

Powers: Possessed of awesome super-strength and denser-than-human skin, Behemoth is a nine-foot-tall giant, and one of the two members of the Hybrid actually loyal to Mento's schemes.

[edit] Pteradon

Israeli commando Captain Israel Harel led a commando rescue raid against Arab extremists who had hijacked a jumbo jet and forced it to land at Ourac Airport. Captain Harel, brave to a fault, was shot in the back by a supposedly dead terrorist. Captain Harel fell into the sea and was fished out by Dayton's people. One promethium infusion later, the Ptera-don was born. He joined the Hybrid and is currently at large.

Pteradon does not want to work for Mento, who keeps him in line by using his helmet's powers. He has no quarrel with the Titans. In combat, Pteradon is quiet, and uses his tactical knowledge to his advantage.

Powers: The reptilian Pterodon possesses clawed fingers and is able to fly at almost supersonic speeds.

[edit] Scirocco

While in the heart of Death Valley, amateur geologist Cassandra Sharp was smothered in the heart of a sandstorm. She was recovered by Dayton Industries, infused with promethium, and changed into Scirocco, Mistress of the Desert Winds. Scirocco does not wish to fight the Titans. Like most of her teammates, she is under the deranged Mento's control.

Powers: The pale-skinned Scirocco is able to generate hurricane-fast winds that can also enable her to fly. Scirocco can also generate sand blasts, which, when combined with her winds, cause enormous damage.

[edit] Prometheus

Texan Curt Calhoun was working as the foreman of the metallurgy lab at Kord Omniversal Research and Development, Inc., when he was covered in a molten titanium/vanadium alloy laced with promethium. This occurred when he pushed his employer, Ted "Blue Beetle" Kord out of the path of the spilling metal.

En route to the hospital, Curt's ambulance was intercepted by Dayton's agents. Dayton used his Mento helmet to transform the molten metal into a permanent shell around Curt. Curt is an easygoing sort who does not want to fight the Titans.

Prometheus is not to be confused with the Prometheus who are enemies to the Justice League.

Powers: The gleaming Prometheus is virtually invulnerable, possesses great super-strength, and is capable of raising the temperature of his armored form to several hundred degrees Celsius, easily capable of meting most other metals.

[edit] Touch-N-Go

Amelinda Lopez was a young thief in Chicago when she was hit by a truck while committing a robbery. Amelinda was infused with promethium after Dayton Industries kidnapped her from the hospital. Touch-N-Go was born. Amelinda is one of the few Hybrids who serves Dayton willingly. She is lightning quick, street-smart, and engages in snappy talk during battle.

Powers: Amelinda is able to temporarily steal the kinetic energy of anyone she touches, thus adding their strength, speed and skill to her own. It has not yet been determined exactly how much energy she can absorb at any one time.
