Hyattstown, Maryland

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Established in 1798 and named after its founder, John Hyatt, this crossroad's town is located on RT 355 (formally know as "The Pike" or "The Great Road") in upper Montgomery County. In this full-service town, you could have found a place to stay at the local Hyattstown Inn, a one room school-house, a butcher, blacksmith and other commercial venues. Being the main road from Washington, D.C. to points west, it is likely that many well-known historical figures could have passed through or even stayed in Hyattstown. Currently, these historical commercial buildings provide private homes for local residents.
