Hy Bender is an author who has written or cowritten 14 books. These include:
- Five Dummies books about the Internet.
- The Sandman Companion, a bestselling interview-based guidebook about the popular comics fantasy series by Neil Gaiman.
- Essential Software for Writers, a guide to electronic writing tools that garnered rave reviews from such publications as The New York Times, The Baltimore Sun, and Byte Magazine.
Bender also writes reviews of New York theatre, primarily for his Web site HyReviews.com, and occasionally for other publications such as The New York Times.
Bender has additionally written humor articles for such national magazines as Mad Magazine, Spy, American Film, and Advertising Age.
Bender is currently focused on screenwriting, and runs the respected Manhattan movie writing workshop NYScreenwriters.org.
