Hvorslev municipality

Hvorslev municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Viborg County in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 128 km², and has a total population of 6.900 (2005). Its mayor is Kurt Andreasen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

The main town and site of its municipal council is the town of Ulstrup.

Neighboring municipalities are Langå to the east, Purhus to the north, and Bjerringbro and Kjellerup to the west, and Gjern and Hammel to the south.

By January 1, 2007 Hvorslev municipality will cease to exist due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Hadsten, Hinnerup, and Hammel municipalities, as well as the southern part of Langå municipality to form the new Favrskov municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 487 km² and a total population of ca. 41,596 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Midtjylland ("Mid-Jutland Region").
