Huron Valley School District

Huron Valley Schools is a school district located in Oakland County, Michigan which serves the communities of Commerce Township, Highland Township, Milford, and White Lake.
The district is made up of eighteen schools. The district has two traditional high schools: Milford High School located in Highland Township, and Lakeland High School located in White Lake, and one alternative high school: Harbor High School in Highland. There are also four middle schools: Muir Middle School (Milford), Highland Middle School (Highland), White Lake Middle School (White Lake), and Oak Valley Middle School (Commerce Township), and eleven elementary schools, which are Apollo Elementary (Highland), Baker Elementary (Milford), Brooks Elementary (White Lake), Country Oaks Elementary (Commerce Township), Heritage Elementary (Highland), Highland Elementary (Highland), Johnson Elementary (Milford), Kurtz Elementary (Milford), Lakewood Elementary (White Lake), Oxbow Community School) (White Lake), and Spring Mills Elementary (Highland).
Currently, the Superintendent of Schools is Jackie Johnston. Previous Superintendent Dr. Robert O'Brien was recognized in a previous year as State Superintendent of the Year. Prior to the 2006 school year, he resigned to spend more time with his family.
The Huron Valley School District is known throughout Michigan for several things. It has a track and field team that has been the best in the state two years in a row. The district also has been ranked highly in the state for its academics as well. The district's HOT Robotics FIRST team has also been very successful in competition, as well as its high school DECA chapters. Its Future Problem Solving Program is also very successful. In 05-06 season they won 5 out of the 10 state trophies for the divisions they competed in with one team going on to the Internationals in Colorado.
