Hungry Horse is a census-designated place (CDP) in Flathead County, Montana, United States. The population was 934 at the 2000 census. U. S. Postal ZIP code for Hungry Horse is 59919. The population was 911 at the 2000 census for the ZIP code area (U. S. Census Bureau statistics).

Hungry Horse is located at 48°23′5″N, 114°3′53″W (48.384609, -114.064849)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²). 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (1.08%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 934 people, 346 households, and 237 families residing in the town. The population density was 194.9/km² (506.0/mi²). There were 404 housing units at an average density of 84.3/km² (218.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 94.86% White, 2.14% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.43% Pacific Islander, 0.43% from other races, and 2.03% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.71% of the population.

There were 346 households out of which 37.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.6% were married couples living together, 11.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.5% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.20.

In the town, the population was spread out with 30.3% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 6.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 108.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 115.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $26,550, and the median income for a family was $28,523. Males had a median income of $30,197 versus $16,607 for females. The per capita income for the town was $10,530. About 18.1% of families and 29.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 38.3% of those under age 18 and 19.8% of those age 65 or over.
