Hungan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hungan priests are religious leaders of Voodoo religion in Haiti, leading in the Drumming and prayers in ceremonies. They're usually community leaders, and otherwise decent members of society, but castigated for their participation in what many see as "Satanic rites". In Horror movies and Occult Fantasy, they are said to conjour up the dead to use as servants, and are portrayed in a very unflattering (and completely false) light. They've fallen victim to the Voodoo Myth, that anyone who practices Shamanism is evil, or connected with Satanism.
