Humphrey Evans

Capt Humphrey Evans (Humphrey Drummond of Megginch) MC was married to Jean Cherry Drummond of Megginch, 16th Baroness Strange who was a cross bench hereditary peer in the British House of Lords, one of the few to remain after the abolition of voting rights for hereditary peers by Tony Blair's Labour government.

He was a Military Cross, a captain in the Mountain Regiment, and the Baroness Strange were married in 1952. They both assumed the surname Drummond of Megginch on their move to the hereditary home of Megginch Castle.

The couple had three sons and three daughters:

  • Adam Evans Drummond of Megginch, now the 17th Baron Strange (b. 1953)
  • Charlotte Cherry (b. 1955)
  • Humphrey John Jardine (b. 1961)
  • Amelie Margaret Mary (b. 1963)
  • John Humphrey Hugo (b. 1966)
  • Catherine Star Violetta (b. 1967)

Evans was widowed in 2005 after the death of his wife at age 76 in their Scottish home.
