Hugh "Kirra" McKee
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hugh "Kirra" McKee was the longest running producer of Brisbane Gang Show and produced shows between 1961 and 1982. "Kirra" oversaw making Brisbane Gang Show, Queensland's many Revues, and Gang Shows in general, popular to the public.
In fact, when the Schonell Theatre was unavailable in 1974, the Gang moved to their former home, Her Majesty's Theatre (Brisbane), where the show ran for a week. The seating capacity of Her Majesty's was 1200, significantly less than the Schonell. The Show was sold out with some patrons standing at the back of the theatre and J.C. Williamson (the owners of the theatre) sent a representative to Brisbane to see what this popular show was all about.
