The Huddersfield Royal Infirmary is a hospital situated in the English town of Huddersfield. It is situated in the suburb of Lindley and provides general services, emergency services and some specialist services.
The Huddersfield Royal Infirmary originally had its own School of Nursing. This has now been incorporated into a 'Virtual Ward' setting within the University of Huddersfield's School of Human and Health Resources.
One of the first, if not the first hospital in the UK to use Solar PV Array panels connected straight to the grid to provide a renewable source of electricity for the hospital. The 36 in number 6x1m panels incorporated within a new roofing membrane were suplied by leading PV Array supplier Alwitra Evalon Solar and electrically installed by leading Batchelor Electrical Ltd [1]in April 2006.
