Huckebein

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Huckebein is a fictional giant robot from the Japanese video game series Super Robot Wars. There are many variations and upgrade mecha that are based on the Huckebein and have appeared in many games including Super Robot Wars 4, F, F Final, Alpha, Alpha Gaiden, Alpha 2, Alpha 3, Original Generation, Original Generation 2, and others.

[edit] Description

The Huckebein is a unit with a very humanoid design. It is based off of various Gundam mecha which is why the design is so similar. The original Huckebein is colored in a shade of dark purple.

Various Huckebein upgrades are similar in design with various armor differences and color schemes. The Huckebein 009 and EX are very similar to the original. The Huckbein Mark II is similar as well. The Mass Production version of the Mark II is a toned down version of the Mark II with a light tan color scheme. The Mark III is similar, but is slightly overhauled in various areas. Its equipment include the Boxer Parts which is a large module that the Mark III can fit into which has bigger legs and arms and its Gunner parts is a large fighter-like module with four cannons on the wings.

[edit] Technical and historical

The original Huckebein unit appeared first in Super Robot Taisen 4 and then in the game remake Super Robot Taisen F/F Final; it was made as a homage to the Gundam anime series mecha and was piloted by Ring Mao. However, future incarnations of the SRW series would shed more light on the Huckebein. In the Alpha and Original Generation series, the Huckebein is the first mecha to use "EOT" ("Extra Over Technology") - alien technology found in Meteor-3, the mysterious meteor that landed on Earth. From the EOT, an experimental working "black hole engine" was created. Mao Industries ended up developing two units using this new technology - the RTX-008-L Huckebein (L) and RTX-008-R Huckebein (R). During the R unit's first testing, however, there was an accident with the black hole engine which dealt significant damage to the Technetium base located on the moon. The incident resulted in the Huckebein earning the infamous nickname "Vanishing Trooper" and the L unit being sealed. The Huckebein's best weapon is its Black Hole Cannon which uses the black hole reactor at its fullest. In the Original Generation games, the RTX-009 Huckebein 009 was created which used a nuclear fusion reactor. This would be fielded by Irmgult Kazahara ("Irm" for short).

Later, the 008-L would be handed to Earth Federation forces. In the Original Generation games, this Huckebein would be utilized by Irm as well. This unit would be upgraded into the RXT-008L-EX Huckebein EX, which would include some technology from the Huckebein Mark II.

The next unit the Huckebein series is the RTX-010 Huckebein Mark II. This unit does not use a black hole engine and instead uses a nuclear fusion reactor. In SRW Alpha, the two main characters you choose would receive the Huckebein Mark II. Later on, more Mark II units would be developed but would lack the G (ravity)-Impact Cannon. In Original Generation, only three of these units would be developed. Brooklyn Luckfield (also known as "Bullet") would receive one of these units and later Elzam von Brainstein would receive one painted in his "Trombe" colors (red and black). The Mark II is equipped with a Gravicon System (this is a gravity controller). The gravitational field spreads in front of this unit thanks to this, creating a defensive Gravity Wall. The Mark II can also be equipped with a T-Link System. The Mark II's cockpit is a jet fighter that can eject from the unit called a "Personal Fighter".

The RPT-010 Huckebein Mark II-M is the mass production version of the Mark II. It uses a Gespenst frame for its design and does not use any special technologies in order to keep production costs low, but, it still performs well in combat. Various pilots have used this unit.

The next unit is the RTX-011 Huckebein Mark III. There were two units made, the RTX-011-R and RTX-011-L. In the Alpha games, this unit goes to your main character. In the Original Generation games, Ryoto Hikawa is the one to use this unit. The Mark III uses EOT efficiently thanks to newfound knowledge that would help harness it better. The purpose of this unit is to be practically a smaller version of the SRX in terms of combat performance. It uses a Telsa Drive to fly and a Tronium Engine to power the machine. It is outfitted with many strong weapons which includes a portable version of the Graviton Rifle. The Mark III like the Mark II, has the Gravicon System as well as the Personal Fighter system. The Mark III is definitely the most powerful of the Personal Trooper series.

On a related note, the Huckebein Mark III can dock with the AM Gunner or AM Boxer. See the "Related Machines" section for more information on these.

In Super Robot Wars Alpha 2, however, the Mark IIIs would be rebuilt, but be incredibly neutered in many ways to the point that the Graviton Rifle must be delivered via booster now. The reason is suspected to be that powerful items like the Tronium Engines were removed for the AEGIS Project in Alpha Gaiden. This would include the Mark III-L (piloted by Viletta) and the Mark III-R (if you play Arad's route, he would pilot it) both suffer from this. The Mark III-R would be painted in Retsuel Feinschmecker's (really Elzam) "Trombe" colors after he receives it. In the Original Generation games, the R unit was already handed to him for him to use.

[edit] Related Machines

The AMG-01 Gunner Frame was originally going to be a flight unit for the Real Personal Trooper Type-1 (R-1). It was later modified and built as a support craft unit for the Huckebein Mark III. It is armed with a multitude of G-Impact Cannons for maximum firepower. This unit, much like a fighter craft of sorts, has a cockpit on top for the Mark III to "sit in". This forms the RTX-011AMG Huckebein Mark III Gunner.

The AMB-01 Boxer Frame is a module initially shaped like a giant sword, This was because it was originally meant to be the R-SWORD for the Super Robot Type-X (SRX). It can transform into a man-machine type module that the Huckbein Mark III can fit into giving it larger arms and feet as well as more thrusters for extra force. The codename for this unit is the RTX-011AMB Huckbein Mark III Boxer.

There is also an AMS-01 Servant Frame but it was used to upgrade the AS-04 Soleares into AS-04R Alegrias instead.

[edit] Huckebein Specifications

RTX-008 Huckebein

RTX-008 Huckebein

The original Huckebein model. It has extremely high performances, thanks to its black hole engine. Its main defence is its extreme speed and maneuvrability, so high that gives it the possibility of creating a special effect known as "after-image" to confuse the enemy. Its "Black Hole Cannon" is one of the most powerful weapon ever mounted on a Personal Trooper, surpassed only by the "Full Impact Cannon" of the MK-III docked with the AM Gunner module.

Height: 19.8 meters

Weight: 60.4 tons

Weapon Systems:

  • 60 mm Vulcan Guns
In the head there area a pair of small-calibur guns.
  • Roshe Saber
This is an high-powered beam saber used for melee combat.
  • Magna Beam Rifle
This is a standard beam rifle for long range combat.
  • Rip Slasher
This remote controlled special weapon lauches six devices stored in the mech's back that assemble into a disk-like device with beam cutters all around. The weapon then rush at the target striking it several times for slashing damage. It is a very long range weapon.
  • Black Hole Cannon
This weapon is not self-contained in the mech, but instead a big external cannon that is launched from a carrier or base at the pilot request. The Huckebein then docks the cannon at its chest, connecting it to the black hole engine, to unleash a devastating attack at extremely long range. The target of this weapon is effecively sucked inside a small scale black hole and crushed by the gravitational distorsion.

[edit] Huckebein EX Specifications

This is basically the original Huckebein updated with parts from the later MK-II model. Its external appearance is changed to macth that of a MK-II, but the performance are the same as the original model.

RTX-011 Huckebein Mk-III

The latest and more advanced Huckebein so far produced. The performances, speed and armor, surpass that of the original Huckebein, and like its predessor, it's fully able to create after-images thanks to its extreme speed. It is equipped with all the advanced technologies tested on the MK-II, like the Gravity Wall and the T-Link system. But the most notable innovations are the Tronium Engine that powers it, the same one developed for the SRX project, that gives it great power without the risk involved with the use of a black hole engine, and the ability to dock with external weapon frames.

Height: 21.5 meters

Weight: 54.3 tons

Defensive System: Gravity Wall

Weapon Systems:

  • 60 mm Vulcan Guns
In the head there area a pair of small-calibur guns.
  • Roshe Saber
This is a high powered beam saber for melee combat.
  • Multi-Trace Missile
There are missile launchers mounted on the pods on the mech back. The missiles can be fired to create an area saturation effect to hit multiple enemies at once.
  • Fang Slasher
These is a four-blade "wheel"-like weapon that gives off electricity. It is stored in the mech's left arm. It can be used as a throwing cutting weapon for mid range attacks.
  • Graviton Rifle
The Huckbein Mark III carries a Graviton Rifle with it for using great firepower on any opponent. It is basically a scaled version of the G-Impact cannon, smaller and much less powerful, but for this reason able to fire more often.
  • Graviton Rifle BST
The neutered version of the Mark III does not carry a Graviton Rifle with it. It must be launched via booster to reach the Mark III.
