Huang Guigu

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Huang Guigu was a military official under Qin Shi Huang of the state of Qin, prior to his becoming the first emperor of China. Her official title was "Lady Sima", "sima" being the name of an official post in ancient China. She led military campaigns against the people of northern China. She studied military tactics at night, practised military formations during the day, and was strong enough to draw a strong bow. She was also skilled at "reading the stars". When the Han Dynasty succeeded the Qin Dynasty, Gaozu of Han issued an imperial decree which gave her 300 catties of gold and jade.
