An NAD+-dependent enzyme expressed in aldosterone-selective tissues. In these tissues, HSD11B2 oxidizes cortisol to cortisone and prevents illicit activation of the mineralocorticoid receptor. Inhibition of this enzyme results in a condition known as pseudohyperaldosteronism
