Hoy por hoy

Hoy por hoy is a Spanish radio program, produced by the news department of the Cadena SER. It is the most listened radio program in Spain with an average of about three million listeners a day and is considered the most listened program in the Spanish radio history. Directed and presented by the journalist Carles Francino, the program is broadcast from Monday to Friday, from 6:00 in the morning to 12:20 in the afternoon. The program, of informative character, spends the first hours of the program reviewing the Spanish and international general information, especially in the political matters. It is characterized for the live emissions of interviews to the most noticeable personages of the day, including the main political leaders and leaders of government.
The two last hours, the program acquires a more carefree tone giving entrance to diverse sections of different themes, in which is also acceptable the humour.
Hoy por Hoy started on September 22, 1986, directed and presented by Iñaki Gabilondo. During its first years on the air, the program had a big rivalry with the program called Protagonistas, directed by Luis del Olmo, that was the leader of the morning time of the Spanish radio. But in the middle nineties, Hoy por hoy reached the first position with more than three million listeners a day. Nowadays is still the most listened radio program in Spain.
On August 30, 2005 the Cadena SER announced the most important change in the history of the program: Iñaki Gabilondo, director and presenter during almost 19 years, left the program to take charge of the direction of the nocturnal news program of the new television network Cuatro (TV), pertinent to the same media group than Cadena SER, the Grupo Prisa.
In substitution of Iñaki Gabilondo, Cadena SER announced the incorporation of Carles Francino, that presents and directs Hoy por hoy from 19 September 2005.
