[edit] Re:Archiving

Mmm, I used to archive but I've gotten lazy. Everyking 22:48, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Sandbox

Sorry! Probably an inappropriate use of the rollback button... I was reinstating the sandbox header which, as it had been deleted by the previous edit, was most easily done with a rollback. JeremyA 04:26, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • This was the edit that I rolled back. JeremyA 04:32, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Why?

Why did you put wikify and clean-up tags? --Wack'd About Wiki 19:38, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Max Slaiman

No problemo. My first try at speedying it conflicted with your vfd. I was in a deletionist mood at the time, and I also had recently read Wikipedia:Deletion policy/Reducing VfD load. I'm going to vote. -- Fingers-of-Pyrex 02:46, 2005 Jun 21 (UTC)

[edit] Userpages

Hi. I'm a newbie, and I'm still in the floundering around stage. Two questions: (1) How do I create a new userpage and (2) Is there a Wiki spell checker? If so, where do they hide it? Thaks Renard 2 July 2005 15:50 (UTC)

[edit] Ashida Kim

Not interested in talking to you publically because you have already proven yourself to be a cheat by deletng my post from Brian and then accusing me of making it up. I'll give you the guys e-mail address and you can talk to him yourself. But, you wouldn't dare do that because it would interfere with your warped view of reality. My e-mail is dojopress@aol.com. You wanna talk, come there. I refuse to let you jackasses drag me onto your forum so you can lie, steal and cheat some more.

Ashdia Kim

[edit] Thanks for the help!

Your instructions for creating a userpage were right on. Thanks for the help. Renard 3 July 2005 17:18 (UTC)

[edit] Help

In case you didn't see at the help desk, I like the idea.--Anti-Anonymex2 23:34, 9 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Thank You

Thank you for your help with the advertising. I changed the red to green. Keep in touch.--Anti-Anonymex2 ]] 23:44, 9 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Welcoming template

Hi there! I was told you're one of the frequent welcomers of new users. I was wondering - since this is a rather frequently asked question, would you please add a link to Wikipedia:Merge to your welcoming template? Thanks. Radiant_>|< 20:40, July 10, 2005 (UTC)

  • Yes, he did. Radiant_>|< 20:48, July 10, 2005 (UTC)
    • Indeed. And what's on second. :) Radiant_>|< 20:54, July 10, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Good Evening

Since you sent me a welcome message that I got between about 6 pm and midnight, I think that the proper response is "Good evening." Robert McClenon 01:25, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] You

Are you two people using the same account? Howabout1 Talk to me! 01:41, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

Yes. My wife Heidi is blind so we collaborate. She does the thinking and I do the typing. That's why it's Heidi and Joe (hydnjo). ;-) hydnjo talk 01:53, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
Great. Thanks. Howabout1 Talk to me! 01:54, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Disruptive user

Who are you? I have never encountered you before. Why do you think it is all right to remove people's votes? It isn't. Replace mine and please keep your personal problems to yourself in future. -- Grace Note

Ironicaly, the person above is in fact demonstrating what a Disruptive User is...doesnt vandalize but attacks articles and then posts negative comments on people's talk page using various IPs. Although, in this case, it was in fact toped off with some vandalism. -Husnock 04:15, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
A "Disruptive User" is whoever you want to whine about. I haven't posted anything negative. I am responding to this guy, who posted a rude comment on my talkpage because I don't like your proposal. I use "various IPs" because I use ADSL and it's assigned dynamically. You are bang out of order suggesting I have vandalised anything. I most certainly haven't. Some other clown wrote a silly comment on the talkpage. Check out my talkpage and you'll see that he put one there too. -- Grace Note

First, I used an IP because I wasn't logged in. Second, my vote was removed by you or your cohort. You're the one who harassed me on my talkpage, so you're the one I replied to. Third, I gave a real vote and a comment that I felt was appropriate. I'm not obliged to discuss your problems in a way that satisfies you. I think the proposal is silly and childish. You want a committee to label people for you? You want official whining? There is already a dispute resolution process for you to whine about users you don't like to your heart's content. -- Grace Note

Calling any proposal on Wikipedia silly and childish is a violation of Wikipedia:Civility. Its much better to raise valid issues and point on things for improvement. The proposal was raised as exactly that...a proposal. Legitimate reasons were raised (by polite users) as to why it would not work and they were accepted. Attacking the proposal and then accusing those who support it of whining is the mark of pettyness. The proposal will close in a few days. I suggest no further negative posts about it. -Husnock 04:49, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
I suggest you stick to trying to bully other users. It's not working with me. It's not uncivil to suggest your proposal was silly. I have a suggestion for you: just leave me alone. Stop harassing me. Stop bitching about me. Stop leaving alerts and talking about RfCs. We disagree about your proposal. You can just take that or leave it. A campaign of vindictive troublemaking is not really called for, is it? You are also yet to apologise to me for the accusation of vandalism. Perhaps you should be checking out our policies for yourself? -- Grace Note

[edit] Improper External Link?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:SpikeJones/temp-casino has a link to "Excalibar web site" with the intention that this website is the official website of the Excalibar casino but the website has nothing to do with Excalibar.

Also, I want to ask if what I am doing is proper. I have a site and I post TV recap, screencap, and commentary. I have linked to my site for example at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauty_and_the_Geek . Is this OK or is this considered spam? I only linked it because I feel that people who visit that page would find my site useful and it is relevant.

[edit] Peace Dove

To all participants of the WikiProject Kindness Campaign: There is a proposal on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Kindness Campaign for the Peace Dove. Please comment as you see fit. Thanks, Sango123 16:13, July 14, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Talk to Me

How do you add a message such as "Talk to Me!" in colored letters each time you stamp your name?--Anti-Anonymex2 18:39, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

I was going to change it to something else, but it didn't work.--Anti-Anonymex2 21:47, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Peace

Thanks for your kind note. I don't have any hard feelings about it and I hope you don't either. Happy editing and peace to you too. -- Grace Note

[edit] Redirect

This sure is fun. Jarlaxle 21:39, July 15, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Moral compass

'Twas a surprise to see a vote for deletion from you on the moral compass article. Obviously, the article needs additional perspectives, especially from the concrete absolutist end of the spectrum, but the notion speaks to fault lines in philosophical debates and certainly deserves consideration when discussions become polarized between null-A and Aristotelian logic. The article does open up a Pandora's box, but isn't the temptation of ideas akin to the Tree of Knowledge exactly the essense of what the Wikipedia is all about? Ombudsman 06:00, 16 July 2005 (UTC)

Additional notes, which may be of interest to you and other members of the harmonious editing committee, have been added to the Moral compass VfD page. Ombudsman 05:20, 17 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] RfA

Thank you MUCH for your support vote at my bid for AdminShip. I'll skipper her well (I hope). With respect, Redwolf24 06:43, 16 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Edit conflicts

Okay, Howabout1. I've had 3 edit conflicts with you within the last 5 minutes trying to welcome new users! Great work! Sango123 15:42, July 16, 2005 (UTC)

For excellent work in welcoming new users, I hereby award you the Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar. Sango123 15:46, July 16, 2005 (UTC)
For excellent work in welcoming new users, I hereby award you the Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar. Sango123 15:46, July 16, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the Barnstar! Now I feel guilty about complaining and not giving you one earlier. :) Sango123 15:46, July 16, 2005 (UTC)
I'll log out for now, so newcomers can be graced with your welcome instead of an edit conflict on their talk page. :) Sango123 15:50, July 16, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Late reply

Here it is July 16 and I just noticed that you sent me a message on the 4th. You wanted to know why I wanted to create a new user page. The answer is that I am trying to write a new article (this is my first with wikipedia) and I wanted the freedom to work in my own page where I could take my time putting it together.Renard 00:22, 17 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re: VfD

Hi; sorry for the delayed response. I hadn't much time to edit last night (and I don't expect to have any tonight) so I wasn't able to tend to everything. I've logged in just to deliver this message, so that you don't think I might be ignoring you. It's been a while since I closed a VfD, so I'll look into it; with any hope I'll be able to do something by late tomorrow. (On viewing the long edit history of the article, however, I wonder if it wouldn't be best to simply redirect it to Avatar: The Last Airbender in order to preserve the edits for history's sake?) I apologise again for my slowness. -- Hadal 18:57, 17 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Firefox problems with tables?

I copied a biography infobox I found on the Dave Brubeck page and used it to modify the page for Wes Montgomery and a few others. I did this in IE. But when I checked it in Firefox I noticed it was not aligned to the right and some other formatting was lost. Is there a table I can use that works in Firefox as well? --Cholmes75 13:15, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your comment/vote on Denelson83's RfA

Hi...I was wondering if your comment on the above RfA was a vote or just a comment. It's not formatted as a vote at present: this is probably just because of the indentation markers. Maybe you could take a look, and, if it is just a comment, put in the comments section. Cheers. -Splash 16:03, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Who's RFA

Thank you for your vote of support on my RFA. I would normally support your RFA, but do not personally believe in voting while a user has an open RFA, (note I voted for Essjay before I was on RFA). Keep up the good work, and good luck. Who?¿? 19:56, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

You don't vote while you have an on-going RfA? Why? Howabout1 Talk to me! 21:31, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

It's just a personal preference, it just seems like its cross-promoting, or campaigning for votes. (If you vote for me, then I'll vote for you) type thing. It's only a personal preference, don't really mind if others do it. I feel that the rest of the community will voice their opinion, but if it came down to it, and I really liked the candidate, I would vote to break a dead-lock. Thanks for replying. Who?¿? 21:37, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

Ok. Would it work if you voted in the day after your nomination? I don't mean to sound desperate, just asking. Howabout1 Talk to me! 21:40, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

Hehe.. Yea that'd be acceptable, and I don't think its desperate at all. Watching the RFA can be stressful for sure, especially since you have been through it before. You can count on my vote in the near future. Who?¿? 21:45, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Your signature

I'm curious. Is there some sort of short-cut that you use to have your sig appear the way it does when you sign comments, (like when using ~~~~ or do you type your sig manually every time you comment. --ZeWrestler 17:39, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

  • More detailed instructions would be great. --ZeWrestler 17:43, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  • Not 100% sure. I'd like to see what i can do with it, and experiment until i can find something i like. --ZeWrestler 17:48, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  • A green color would be great --ZeWrestler 17:59, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
  • This looks interesting, --ZeWrestler|Talk 18:20, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
    • You picked a good color. :) Sango123 18:34, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Request for adminship

Hello, Howabout1/Archive 2. I have just submitted a request for adminship, and I would be honored if you submitted a vote. :) Thanks, Sango123 19:10, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

Squirrel is pretty close. :) My native language is Chinese, but I didn't list it since I can only understand it spoken, not written. Sango123 19:29, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

You're quite welcome; I wish you the best of luck! --Merovingian (t) (c) 19:34, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Howabout1

Hey Howabout1, I see your RfA. Look you are a great user but you really should wait for your adminship, your edit count is still pretty light. Me and Essjay made a pact to nominate at 2000 and you haven't yet reached 1500. I am gonna refrain from voting for now but I may vote when my own RfA clears up. With respect, Redwolf24 22:07, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

I'm going to respectfully disagree. Although I've voted neutral for the moment, unless you turn out to be a reincarnated Richard Nixon, I'm going to change to support. I don't think you should withdraw at all. Red, just like signup time isn't everything, neither is edit count. -- Essjay · Talk 23:13, July 19, 2005 (UTC)
Good thought, I don't wanna turn into Denelson83.... Redwolf24 23:16, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
Bad Red, bad! (Whacks with Vandal Whacking Stick) No personal attacks! -- Essjay · Talk 23:19, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

That wasnt a personal attack it was a joke :P Redwolf24 23:20, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

No, How, Red isn't my sockpuppet. (If he is, then I have multiple personality disoder!) If you're concerned you can check the contribs; we make contributions simultanously. However, because we're so different but we get along so well, we joke that people will thik we're sockpuppets. As for the "for those who don't know" that was just a reference to the fact that he & I are really good friends; if someone didn't know us, they might think I was serious. He & I joke like that all the time. Nothing to worry about, nothing covert. ; - ) -- Essjay · Talk 23:34, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] RfA vote

No problem on the RfA vote. I believe you will use it wisely. And hey, how could I vote against another Wikicitizen?  :) -- JamesTeterenko 04:40, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
