Howard Publishing

Howard Publishing is a Christian publishing company founded in 1969 and based in West Monroe, Louisiana. Although unaffiliated with a given religious denomination, Howard finds its largest consumer base with evangelical Christian groups of the Southern United States.

Howard publishes many popular hymnals and books on various aspects of Christian living. In addition, Howard has also recently announced a collaborative effort with Big Idea, Inc. to release a gift book series based on the popular VeggieTales animated series.

In 2006 Howard Publishing was bought by Simon and Schuster. [1]

Since S&S's acquisition of Howard Publishing, John Howard has become the Executive Vice President and Publisher of Howard Books, in charge of direction and publication. He reports to Carolyn Reidy, president of S&S's adult publishing division.

Author and composer Alton Howard founded Howard Publishing in 1969 has been very influential in the musical traditions of the churches of Christ since the 1970s. Howard died on October 28, 2006 at the age of 81.
