Howard Middle School (Macon, Georgia)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Howard Middle School is a unit of the Bibb County Public School System, serving sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. Located on Forsyth Road near the county's north border with Monroe County, the school opened in 2004. It takes its name from the Howard militia district, and later a group of voting precincts, located in that part of the county.
Unlike other Bibb County middle schools, Howard does not feed into a partner high school; its students are split between Central and Westside High Schools. There are plans to build a high school adjacent to the middle school in the coming years.
A previous "Howard School", unrelated to Howard Middle, was situated approximately two miles southeast on Forsyth Road and is now the Howard Community Center; it is frequently rented out for events.
Howard Middle School's mascot is the husky.
