Howard E. Scott

Howard E. Scott is an American musician. He was born in San Pedro, California on March 15, 1946 and raised in Compton, California.
Early in life he learned various instruments and the fine art of writing and creating music.
He was influenced by blues artists – Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, and Wayne Bennett. Scott says "The only music I related to was blues; I got really fast on the guitar by watching other people play.”)
He played with bands in the Los Angeles area. Playing one evening in Long Beach, California, he met Harold Brown. They formed a band called the Creators in 1962. Then in 1966 Scott joined the United States Army. After returning to the States he and Harold Brown formed their second group, called the Night Shift. In 1969, they changed their name and became the original War.
In 1996 Howard formed a new group called, "Lowrider Band", which consists of himself and three other members of the original War lineup, Lee Oskar,B.B. Dickerson and Harold Brown.
