Howard 100 and Howard 101 are the names of the channels with programming affiliated with Howard Stern on Sirius Satellite Radio. The content has been on-air since October 2005, though the channels officially launched on January 9, 2006 with four shows on the schedule: The Howard Stern Show, Bubba the Love Sponge Show, The Wrap Up Show, and Howard 100 News.

[edit] Pre-Launch History

Howard 100 (and 101) officially launched on January 9, 2006, though the channel had some pre-launch programming. It also went through a series of different names. Prior to January 2004, channel 100 was named SIRIUS Sessions and played live music.

[edit] Douche 100

Douche 100 (and second channel Douche 101) was the pre-launch name of Howard 100 (and Howard 101). Most of the Douche 100 air time was dead air and the sound of a ground loop hum, but it did feature one twenty-four hour special.

Shows on Douche 100:

  • 24 Hour: Fart-athon, a 24 hour show with non-stop farters live in the studio

[edit] Howard Stern 100

After the Fart-athon the channel briefly changed its name from Douche 100 to Howard Stern 100 (and 101). Like Douche 100, being a pre-launched channel, it did not have much programming and featured the sound of a ground loop hum or natural sound of the sometimes occupied studio. While Stern was on his old terrestrial radio show he and his staff came up with a few twenty-four hour specials.

[edit] Howard 100

When Howard 100 News went on the air, the official channel name was revealed.

Shows that aired on the pre-launched Howard 100 (and 101) channel:

  • Howard 100 News, Then a once daily Stern-related newscast
  • Superfan Roundtable, a weekly forum for Stern Superfans hosted then by Jon Hein
  • The Red Peters Comedy Music Hour, Red Peters musical comedy countdown
  • Tissue Time with Heidi Cortez, Playboy playmate, Heidi Cortez, reads erotic bed time stories
  • The Crack Whore View, parody version of The View where real crack whores showcase their points of view on a variety of issues
  • Sirius for Dummies, helping new users get their Sirius Radio set-up.
  • Meet the Sterns, call-in show featuring Stern's parents
  • Meet the Shrink, which performs psychoanalysis on Wack Pack members and frequent guests. Originally hosted by Dr. Ellen McGrath, after only a few shows she was replaced by Dr. Leslie Armstrong. She later quit. Howard 100 is still looking for a replacement.

When Howard Stern announced his move to Sirius, he announced three channels. Later, channels 100 and 101 joined the Sirius line-up while 102 (the presumed third channel) remained off the dial.

Stern has full programming rights for the two channels, Howard 100 and Howard 101. Before his satellite radio show debuted, both channels carried the same signal. Later, Howard 100 and Howard 101 separated and now have original programming of their own. Robin Quivers suggested that a third channel may be needed, in the future, to allow for show repeats and original programming.

On March 14th, 2006, channel 102 became Sirius Stars. However, Stern stated that his contract allows him to create a third Stern channel for Sirius whenever he wishes. Whether this channel would be 102 or some other channel number remains to be seen.

[edit] Cancelled Programming

  • The Friday Show:, The Friday Show took the place of the Howard Stern Show when Stern was off on Fridays. Gary Dell’Abate and Jon Hein played popular clips of past shows. It was later replaced by Master Tape Theatre which plays entire uncensored shows from the K-Rock era.
  • Tissue Time with Heidi Cortez:, Playboy playmate, Heidi Cortez, reads erotic bed time stories. It originally started as a full hour show while Stern was on terrestrial radio. Heidi would take live phone calls and read stories. The show was then moved around from different time slots. When the channels officially launched it was moved to a five minute story show at midnight and four in the morning. Later it was dropped.
  • The Crack Whore View:, parody version of The View where real crack whores showcase their points of view on a variety of issues. Originally aired while Stern was on terrestrial radio. Stern recently said that if they would ever put the show back on they needed to find better crack whores with more wacky views. Stating “if they can show up on time what kind of crack whores are they?”
  • Sirius for Dummies, helping new users get their Sirius Radio set-up.
  • Meet the Sterns, call-in show featuring Stern's parents. Stern wanted the show to continue, but both Stern’s parents said they are retired and don’t want to start a job again.
  • Drunk Scores Girls Roundtable, hosted by drunk Scores girls. Stern and cast hated the original show.
