How To Destroy Angels (1984) |
Scatology (1984) |
How To Destroy Angels was the first produced album by Coil as a collective of John Balance and Peter Christopherson. It was originally released in 1984 and later repressed in 1988.
The LP has two songs on it, a-side sharing the same title as the album itself with the other side being nothing but smooth vinyl which rendered the b-side unplayable (as Coil intended). Although it has been shown that there are at least three different types of pressings released with the grooveless version being the final.
Originally, "How To Destroy Angels" was intended to be the B-side of the live performance piece "Silence and Secrecy", but due to Christopherson and Balance leaving Psychic TV, owners of Temple Records, the idea was shelved. "Silence and Secrecy" has only been released in partial form via a two minute excerpt on the Zos Kia and early Coil retrospective Transparent.
Remixes of How To Destroy angels appeared on the CD album of the same name, How To Destroy Angels.
