House Moritani
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
House Moritani are a fictional family who are at war with House Ecaz of the Landsraad. Their stronghold is the second planet of the star Niushe, Grumman. In the year 10,175 A.G., the Viscount Hundro Moritani allied with House Harkonnen in an attempt to conquer the Atreides home world of Caladan. The attempt failed when the Ducal Mentat of House Atreides, Thufir Hawat, tricked the Moritani/Harkonnen space-fleet into believing that Duke Leto had a gigantic water fleet, which were actually harmless fishing boats.

House History:
House Moritani claims its origins to the ancient minor House Milano of Terra and while this is generally disputed by the rest of the Landsraad, there is evidence that House Moritani had existed before the formation of the Corrino Imperium.
Indeed, it is rumored that House Moritani was one of the ancient Houses that contributed forces and engaged the future Imperial family at Battle of Corrin, though if true, this would make the Moritani family one of the founders of the civilization as it is today – for better or worse.
Over the centuries House Moritani was able to amass vast wealth and achieve Siridar Governorship of Grumman, thus becoming a Great House of the Landsraad with all the privileges and responsibilities that come with it.
The Moritani family is known for its respect for strength, something that all of the heads of this House have claimed at one point or the other, usually at the expense of their enemies.
They are also known to break the rules when it suits them best and are rumored to be the reason behind many minor rebellions in the Imperium, though there is also enough evidence to show the Moritani family siding with the strongest be it the Imperial Corrino family or someone else.
House Moritani is also a hated enemy of the House Ginaz.
It was the Moritani family who attempted to block the inclusion of the Ginaz into the Landsraad, speaking in the interests of House Corrino and Moritani that conducted a vicious political campaign against the Ginaz afterwards.
The head of House Ginaz at the time, Faustin Ginaz, was the one that swore revenge against Yukio Moritani and all its heirs, creating another vicious feud that could rival that of the Houses Atreides and Harkonnen in passion.
Today Raphael Moritani IV rules the Great House Moritani, alongside his wife, the Siridar Viscountess Isleen Moritani.
While the Grumman family is known for its strict laws against women and their powers in the Moritani government, Isleen still possess a great amount of influence within the House that can, at times, be a great frustration to the Moritani nobility – though none would cross the Viscountess by voicing it publicly.
House Colors/Crest: House Moritani colors are dark navy-blue with pure silver or a pale snowy-white stripe crossing the field. The House Moritani crest is that of a ringed planet, representing Grumman, though two black wolves also play a strong part in the more elaborate Moritani coats of arms.
