House is a well-received 2006 horror novel co-authored by authors Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker. The book is meant to give the word "haunted house" a new meaning.

[edit] Plot

Two couples find themselves trapped in rural Alabama after taking an unexpected detour. As they seek refuge, they find themselves in a charming, victorian inn. However, they are soon to discover that the "inn" is inhabited, and its "owners" don't take kindly to visitors. Worse still, they soon realize that a homicidical maniac meant to lure them here. As they sit by an old fireplace, a tin can falls down the chimney. On it, their pursuer has scrawled a message; This is my house. As long as you are staying in my house, you must follow the house rules:

·God came into my house, and I killed Him.

·I will kill anyone who comes to my house just like I killed God.

·Give me one dead body, and I might let rule two slide.'

The two couples must race against time to find a way to appease the murderer's demands, or else by morning they will all be killed. During the night they all discover the evils that lurk deep inside each of them and how it has affected them their whole lives.
