Hotohori

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hotohori (星宿) is a character in the manga and anime series Fushigi Yūgi.

The beautiful narcissistic fourth emperor of Konan. When he first heard about the Suzaku no Miko at a young age, he thought the priestess would be the one for him and love him for himself, instead of his title. Eventually, when he met Miaka, he loved her deeply and would do anything for her. Thus, he became Tamahome's rival, but stepped aside when he realized Miaka only had eyes for Tamahome. He eventually marries a woman named Houki, who bears a striking resemblance to Nuriko. He is killed by Nakago during the battle between Konan and Kutou, leaving Houki pregnant with his son Boushin.

  • Personality: He seems like the type that hides his feelings, but he's actually a warm and gentle man. As the ruler of his kingdom, he was raised surrounded by adults, so it's no wonder he looks old for his age. He looks cold and harsh when he's sitting on the throne because of his isolated and lonely upbringing. He never had any real love from his parents, the previous emperor and empress, so he's very attracted to Miaka's warmth. When he's around her, he turns into a normal young man. The worst part (or best part) about him is that he's a total narcissist. Due to his sheltered background he doesn't know much about the world.
  • Voices: Takehito Koyasu (Japanese), Kirk Thornton as Sparky Thornton (English)
