Hotel Georgia (Vancouver)

The Hotel Georgia is a historic hotel in Downtown Vancouver. It was opened on May 7, 1927, as a 12 storey building. It is currently branded as the Crowne Plaza Hotel Georgia and is owned by Allied Hotel Properties Inc. In 1998, it underwent a major restoration and renovation. The building and many portions of the interior are designated as a protected heritage property by the City of Vancouver.
Famous guests who have stayed at the Georgia include:
- Nat King Cole
- Prince of Wales (later the Duke of Windsor)
- Elvis Presley
- Louis Armstrong
- The Beatles
- Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip

There is a proposal to demolish the hotel's parking structure and expand the hotel to the north with a new high-rise building designed by Bing Thom Architects. The new hotel building will stand at 162 m or 52 storeys tall and scheduled for completion in 2008. It will contain 97 hotel units and 204 dwelling units.
