[edit] HOT FM HISTORY

In January 1999, MBC unleashed its new pop format network. Utilizing a Top 40/Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR) format, the HOT FM Network emerged as the favorite radio station among students and young professionals in Cebu, Dagupan, Zamboanga, General Santos and Pavia, Iloilo. Today, HOT FM 91.5 Cebu, HOT FM 106.3 Dagupan, HOT FM 102.7 Zamboanga, HOT FM 105.5 General Santos and HOT FM 104.3 Pavia, Iloilo continue to sizzle by playing the coolest pop songs.

[edit] MBC History

MBC traces it roots back to “ the voice of the Philippines” – KZRH, the oldest radio station in the Philippines which first went on air back in June 15, 1939. KZRH was so successful that within two years operation, it opened a sister station in Cebu City – DYRC.

After WWII, KZRH and DYRC dusted off their old microphones under the leadership of two prominent businessmen Ambassador JM Elizalde and his brother Manuel, who christened the new network as Manila Broadcasting Company.

KZRH became the first station to go nationwide simulcast from Basco to Jolo in July 15, 1949. Later that year, under the directive of the Swiss Radio Commission, the ‘K’ in all local radio stations was replaced with the letter “D”, thus, DZRH was born.

MBC crossed over to FM band with the opening of DZMB, known as Love Radio Network playing adult contemporary music. In 1996 the vision "One Nation One Station” was conceived by current MBC Chairman Fred J. Elizalde. DZRH expanded its footprint to cover an unprecedented 97 percent of the Philippine archipelago. To date, DZRH is the only station in the country which is on 24 hour nationwide stereo quality simulcast via satellite to relay stations located in key provincial cities.

The 90’s saw MBC further expanding its network with the addition of YES – FM, Radyo Natin, HOT – FM, and Aksyon Radyo.
