Hospital Music for the Aesthetics of Language was recorded at Portrait Studios in Lincoln Park, New Jersey by Chris Badami who also engineered and produced the album. The album was mastered by Alan Douches.
Originally self-released in 2003, Trophy Scars have sold thousands of copies of their first EP and second release.

At the time of recording and release Trophy Scars was still the same line-up of members minus Andy on bass and AJ on Guitar. Mike Schipper played on this album and Josh Weinstein, their original bassist played on this album as well as on Darts to the Sea and Goodnight Alchemy.
