Horehound is a common name applied to two related genera of flowering plants in the family Lamiaceae:

The name is of unknown origin, but with the first part 'hore' derived from "hoary", "hairy".

It is also a flavoring, usually found in the form of flavored sugar drops. Commonly refered to as "Horehound Candy" or "Homemade Horehound". It is most common in candy shops in the northern United States.
