Honda CT110

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Honda CT110 "Postie Bike" is a small 105 cc not 110cc (despite what people think as of the model) motorcycle with a four stroke engine. They are well known in Australia due to their use by Australia Post as a delivery bike. This also makes them the highest selling motorcycle in the country.

CT-110s are well regarded for their extreme reliability, clutchless four speed gearboxes(centrifugical clutch) (which frees up the left hand for delivering mail) and their ability withstand even the most notorious pizza delivery riders without a breakdown. In Australia they can be seen in their hundreds on an annual ride from Sydney to Ayers Rock (Aboriginal name Uluru) and back, a journey of 2000+ miles, which, despite their numbers, usually ensues without a single breakdown. Racing postiebikes has become very popular in Australia and riders go to extreme modifications for such a small bike to race in bathurst such as nitrous oxide kit, methanol powered and supercharger/turbo kits While some riders "would not be seen dead on one," due to their uncomfortable seats, harsh ride, and less than threatening presence, to others, their extreme reliability and fuel economy make them ideal motorcycles.

The CT-110 motorcycle is well known for is powerful engine and stunning looks, which has become apparantly popular within the younger males of the country. Second hand sales of these bikes have increased over 40% in the last 3 years, meaning that these "postie bikes" can be increasingly hard to come by for a decent price. It is always important to remember when riding one of these bikes to remember just how much power you have at your fingertips, and not to make other road users jealous. Burnouts and wheelstands are an often occourance.
