Homestead High School is a comprehensive secondary school located in the Milwaukee suburb of Mequon The 4-year public high school is a part of the Mequon-Thiensville School District, and as such serves a 48-square mile area including the city of Mequon and the village of Thiensville. Homestead High School received accreditation from the North Central Association Commission on Schools. Homestead High School was also nationally recognized in 2004 as No Child Left Behind Blue-Ribbon School, one of only thirty-four public high schools in the United States to receive this honor.
Upper middle income business executives and professional residents account for the majority of the local population. Enrollment of the comprehensive high school is 1,604. Of the 120 certified staff, 75% have masters or higher degrees. Because nearly 95% of the students are college bound, college preparatory classes are strongly emphasized.
The school's sports teams participate in the North Shore Conference.
Musician Willy Porter attended Homestead, and is one of the more famous alumnus.
Screen writer and actor John Ridley attended Homestead also, and is the most sucessful of the alumnus. He wrote, The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, Undercover Brother, Barbershop, and many more sucessful TV Shows and Movies. He also was an actor in the popular TV series, Martin.
