[edit] Recent brewery additions

Hey,

They look great... you did a swell job. They certainly fit into the Beer project, that's exactly what it's all about. I don't really have much to add, as I say I think you wrote excellent articles -- if you want a minor thing, it's that generally breweries are in category English breweries or whatever, but not also in category Beer since the breweries by nationality are already nested under the beer cat. At any rate, they look good and you might want to put up a mention of them at the beer project chat page (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Beer) to show them off and solicit anybody else's contributions. Some of them are British and I'm not quite -- Canadian -- so on that front they'll be of more help than I am...

Once again, they look great to me, so I hope you decide to make some more pages. --Daniel11 01:01, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Excellent, sounds like a good plan! I'm currently imbibing a Smithwick's, one of God's gifts to man, although the page on here could use some work... Look forward to further contributions and communication. --Daniel11 01:29, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, that should be "one of the Irish's gifts to man." ;) --Daniel11 01:46, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hesiod's Works and Days

Cheers ! Yes, I noticed the persistent elliptical problem with the link to "Works and Days" in the Hesiod article pointing back to Hesiod ! The choices have always been clear: (1) write the article on Works and Days, (2) de-Wikify "Works and Days", (3) have "Works and Days" point to an external link to the text of "Works and Days", or (4) leave it oddly perplexing as it is ! I haven't had time to write the "Works and Days" article, or I would have ! I think it's preferable to have a real article on "Works and Days" but that's the best case. For the time being, it might be best to either point to the text or de-Wikify until the article can be written. Some might argue to the contrary. Leave it as a dead pointer as a reminder, not a loop back to the Hesiod article. This would involve simply changing the 'redirect' article. Theogony has a veritable article already. Just some thoughts for your query. Bests. --- (Bob) Wikiklrsc 09:06, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

On 13-Mar, you blanked Works and Days. Blanking pages is generally considered a bad idea. I've reverted it to the previous version. In adition, to resolve the circular redirect, I removed the links from Hesiod. Blanking the redirect was not a good idea as a number of articles link to Works and Days. People clicking on those links are left with a dead page instead of being redirected to an article that discusses the poem. If you decide to create an article, you can restore the link. You might consider writing a stub. If you have questions, please let me know. Thanks! -- JLaTondre 03:06, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Zeedonk v. Zonkey

Thanks for pitching in on this (see Talk:Zeedonk) but you give us two references to the OED, which is a subscription service only. Without the details, the references don't communicate anything -- can you tell us more? Over on the Talk:Zeedonk page? I left this here on your own talk page solely to draw your attention; feel free to delete whenever.  :) -- Lisasmall 05:55, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Beer cats

It has been suggested by User:BrianSmithson that the Beer and brewery categories should be renamed. The proposal has been supported by User:Syrthiss, and supported and expanded by myself. The notion is that the regional categories should follow the format of "Beer and breweries in Africa" /Europe/Asia/North America/South America/Oceania. "Brewers and breweries" could also be renamed "Beer and breweries by region". And all the countries should also be renamed (and merged if needed) as, for example, "Beer and breweries of Germany", "Beer and breweries of Britain", "Beer and breweries of Poland". The word in each case would be beer rather than beers to allow for general articles on beer culture in each region as well as individual beers.
