Hurricane Emily picture

Nice image of Hurricane Emily, but since it is public domain, you should upload it to the Wikimedia Commons, a public domain image repository. Uploading an image or file to the commons makes it automatically available to all the Wikis in every language, so one single file can be interchanged without having to upload it to every single wiki individually. For now I'm going to upload it there, but just for future reference, be sure to send those tasty PD images over there.

I saw you merged the articles, it was initially created by an anonymous user but I built it up and placed new information that I wrote onto the main article (expected short-term impact) into the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season section for Rita...BTW it should not go at Tropical Storm Rita since it is almost certain to be a hurricane by early morning...we should do a poll first before deciding to do an article shift (did that with Ophelia); I personally think the main article will be necessary for sure by late tomorrow with the impact on the Keys. Uwisc CIMSS images

The sentence at the bottom of their page that you directed me to does not mention anything at all about copyrights. The citation they ask for is a courtesy, and I seriously doubt we even have to reference them at all.

This content seems to be uncopyrighted, but you may want to email them if you feel it is copyrighted. Afterall, it says the original source is from the US Government, which makes it public domain anyways. --tomf688{talk} 00:21, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

It would definitely seem that it is not necessary. Taking safe over sorry is fine, but saying something is copyrighted when it doesn't say so on their website isn't necessary and is misleading for anyone who might want to use it. It's safe to call these public domain, and to cite their site as a courtesy all the same. --tomf688{talk} 00:30, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

Images

Please provide as descript of a filename as possible when uploading an image. Image:Wilma.gif can refer to many things, such as Wilma Flintstone, Wilma Rudolph, Lake Wilma, etc., and might possibly be overwritten in the future by someone else. So, for future reference, please be sure to make descript filenames.

Also, since the image is in the public domain, please upload it to the Wikimedia Commons instead of Wikipedia, since doing so will make it available to every wiki. Thanks. --tomf688{talk} 18:32, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

RE:VFA

First, as would been seen in other elections, and dont be fooled that what they are, it would make no difference what so ever, as long as the user is "popular" and "a good editor" then they are going to be approved, so what difference would it make anyway. Being that it is a vote and not a debate, a flaw in the system, the only opnion that needs to be know is that i oppose. Secondly i dont feel the need to address what my opinion of one user is of another user, if the user in question wants to know then they can contact me, and then i will decide if i want to address the issue with them or not. I also see no reason for a lengenthly or any explanation consdier that their is no request or requrtent for one, and that the only time it seems to me made is when one goes aginst the position of the majority of the lemmings, when in whcih they usually as, i have seen, not to address the issue but berate those who oppose the majority and basiclay back them into a wall untill they change they desision, or else they seek to diqualify you. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 00:01, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Tropical storms and such

Ah yes - that move regarding tropical storm Alpha. I made the move a few days ago after another Wikipedian requested it. I forget who (I will go take a look), but the idea was that at the moment, there was only one "tropical storm alpha", and so there was no need to disambiguate with a redirect. If and when another Alpha comes up, then the page move would be made. If necessary, I will move it back to the page name with the 2005 label on it - I only did the move because I was under the impression that it was already agreed upon by consensus.

Date conversion

OK, simply put: If you have "September 11", it will always show up that way, no matter what your date preference setting it (in the Preferences link at the top). However, if you link it - [[September 11]] - then the software alters it to 11 September or whatever it needs to be. That is why all dates on Wikipedia are linked, not necessarily to give a link to that date, but to prevent wars over how dates should be formatted. --Golbez 17:22, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Tornado outbreak

You're welcome - I first heard about it when I woke up, then looked for a page and noticed you had just started it. Now it feels like I am sitting in a newsroom (these articles move a lot faster than with a hurricane article when it happens). Of course, we have to watch farther east in the Appalachians and towards the East Coast this afternoon... CrazyC83 16:46, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

I've been continuously listening to the streamed audio of local news to get most of the updates. One thing to mention - if you thought that was hectic, imagine if all this existed back on April 3, 1974 for the Super Outbreak (now that is the Katrina of tornado events) - this place would be off the hook with all the information we'd be getting and so fast - the page would also be incredibly long! Leave it for now; slight mention should be made for the other tornadoes as they were likely F0 or F1 tornadoes and this was the main one. The line seems to be now in a diagonal from north of Rochester, New York to around Atlanta, Georgia, with the worst in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, West Virginia and western Maryland. Clarification?

In tropical wave you added:

Approximately 60% of minor tropical cyclones originate from tropical waves,
while approximately 85% of intense tropical cyclones develop from tropical waves.

Does "intense" mean Category 3+ or all hurricanes? I think that needs to be clarified, or pass me the source and I'll do it :) . AySz88^-^ 03:56, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

Baseball on Wikicities

Hello Holderca1, Googie Man here and I want to ask you something as a fellow baseball fan on Wikipedia. Jimbo and Angela have made a new webstie called Wikicities. This link in particular will take you to the baseball Wikicity. As you'll see it's similar to Wikipedia, but my hope is this will allow baseball fans to do more and different things, like reporting on games, in depth statistics, create mulitple pages for pictures, and whatever else baseball fans care to create. You've done great work on Wikipedia and I was hoping you could help get this baseball Wikicity off the ground. I'm posting this message on you Talk Page either because you've contributed to the article Babe Ruth, or because you've edited other baseball or sports related articles. All-Star Game Template

Good job on adding the template for previous All-Star games on the 2006 ASG page. Can you edit that template to include the fact that there were two All-Star Games every year from 1959-1962? I agree that the route box needs freshening up. As much as I would like to keep the original boxes, they still seem messy. On another note, I just went through SH 122 and make a transfer page to the Fort Bend Tollway page, which are kinda one in the same. CrazyC83 fixed it just now, by changing the first ERNESTO to lowercase. Now, if you want to go to #05L.Ernesto, it takes you to the top, and #05L.ERNESTO takes you to the NRL-confirmation. -- RattleMan 21:14, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Assessment

Texas articles should probably not have a separate system where it uses the WP:USRD/A stuff but its own categories. (The bot will choke on this). Either split Texas highway articles off entirely into their own assessment system, or (preferably) merge them back into U.S. Roads.
