Holy water sprinkler (flail weapon)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A holy water sprinkler is a medieval weapon and type of flail. Rather than a steel ball on the end of a chain, however, it featured a short iron bar covered in sharp spines. It was the favored weapon of King John of Bohemia, who was blind, and used to simply lay about him on all sides, because with a flail one does not need to see one's opponent. It is easy enough to just "flail" until one hits something.
The name "holy water sprinkler" was also used to describe some forms of the morning star, which is not a flail weapon.
