Holwierde

The town centre (dark green) and the statistical district (light green) of Holwierde in the municipality of Delfzijl.

Holwierde (53°21′N 6°52′E) is a town in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is a part of the municipality of Delfzijl, and lies about 26 km northeast of Groningen.

In 2001, the town of Holwierde had 813 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.27 km2, and contained 323 residences.[1] The statistical area "Holwierde", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 1040.[2]
