Hollister riot

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On Independence day, 1947. A group of bikers, the Boozefighters, were reported to have terrorised the citizens of the small Californian town Hollister. The film The Wild One (starring Marlon Brando) is based on these events, and issues surrounding disillusionment from postwar American society. Time/Life immortalized the event with a staged picture of a man resting, obviously drunk, on a motorcycle amidst a mass of beer bottles.
