Hollenhorst plaque
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Hollenhorst plaque or cholesterol embolus represents an arterial embolus that originates from an atheromatous plaque in a more proximal vessel, usually the internal carotid. It is a sign of severe atherosclerosis. These plaques are bright, refractile, and yellow. They appear to migrate down the vessel; carefully "massaging" the eyeball can facilitate migration.
