Holdsworth
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Holdsworth was a bicycle manufacturer based in London, UK, set up by (Sandy) William Frank Holdsworth, and his wife Margret. Initially they manufactured specialist cycling clothing, but branched out into cycle frames around 1929. The business grew into a highly successful operation producing frames and distributing Campagnolo components and Reynolds tubesets in the UK.
Through a combination of management difficulties and foreign competition, the brand faltered in 1975 before being bought out. The W.F. Holdsworth name changed hands repeatedly.
The original shop where the first frames were made is still at 132 Lower Richmond Rd, Putney, London, SW15 1LN but no longer sells road bikes, concetrating instead on ATB's.
