Holden Roberto

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Álvaro Holden Roberto (born 12 January 1923 in São Salvador do Congo) is the leader of the National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA). Roberto was connected to Mobutu Sese Seko via his second wife, who hailed from the same village as Marie-Antoinette Mobutu (Mobutu's first wife). Roberto was also a direct descendant of the monarchy of the Kongo Kingdom.

Experts agree that, like Mobutu, Roberto was on the CIA payroll for a number of years.[1] Controversy remains over the size of the payments, and their duration.
