The Holden Captiva is the Australian name of the Chevrolet Captiva (S3X) developed by GM Daewoo's design center in Incheon and is based on GM Theta platform.

The Holden Captiva is powered by the 3.2-litre V6 all-alloy engine made by Holden in Port Melbourne.

Captiva is sold by Holden as a five or seven seat vehicle and includes Electronic stability program (ESP) and an active all-wheel-drive system. Rumours persist amongst Australian motoring journalists that the vehicle will also be available with an optional Turbo Diesel engine.

The Holden Captiva has been available since October 2006 in three models:

  • SX $35,990 (Five seats)
  • CX $38,990 (Seven seats)
  • LX $41,990 (Seven seats)

From 2007 the range will also include the:

  • MaXX $42,990 (Five seats)

The MaXX is based on the European Opel Antara but is built by Daewoo in South Korea.

All models come with the following features:

  • 3.2 litre Alloytec V6 engine
  • Power steering
  • 4 wheel disc brakes
  • Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
  • Independent Rear Suspension (IRS)
  • Antilock brakes (ABS)
  • Hydraulic Brake Assist (BA)
  • Traction control
  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
  • Hill descent control

The Captiva is powered by the Australian built Alloytec 3.2 litre V6 engine with 169kW of power and 297Nm of torque and a 5-speed automatic transmission with Active Select. The Captiva MaXX produces 2kW less due to slightly different exhaust routing.

The official Holden brochure is currently silent about the diesel option but a 112kW, 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine will come in the second half of 2007.

Engines:

  • 2.0 L turbodiesel I4, 150 hp (112 kW) (developed with VM Motori) (Rumoured for Australian release)
  • 3.2 L V6 Alloytec, 227 hp (169 kW) (224 hp/167 kW for Captiva MaXX)
