Hogan & Hartson

Hogan & Hartson is the largest Washington D.C.-based law firm. It is a global firm with over 1000 lawyers in 23 offices worldwide, including offices in Europe and East Asia.
U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts was a litigator for this firm for several years for two periods, from 1986-1989, and from 1993-2003. In this capacity, Roberts argued before the United States Supreme Court and the lower federal courts, participating in a wide variety of matters on behalf of corporate clients, trade associations, governments, and individuals. Roberts left Hogan & Hartson in 1989 to accept appointment as Principal Deputy Solicitor General of the United States, and returned in 1993 to head their Appellate Practice Group.
