Hofsjökull

Hofsjökull is the third largest glacier in Iceland after Vatnajökull and Langjökull covering an area of 925 square kilometres. Its highest peak reaches 1765 metres.
It is situated in the west of the Icelandic Interior or Highlands of Iceland between Vatnajökull and Langjökull.
Hofsjökull is the source of several rivers including the Þjórsá, Iceland's longest river.
Under the glacier, there is a caldera.
Two of the bigger highland tracks are leading alongside this glacier: Sprengisandur Highland road and Kjölur Highland road.
Not far to the south of the glacier, there are the Kerlingarfjöll, a mountain range formerly known for summer skiiing.
