HNLMS Van Speijk

Seven ships of the Royal Netherlands Navy have been named HNLMS Van Speijk (also spelled Speyk), after Jan van Speijk:[1]

  • HNLMS Van Speijk (1832-1837), ex HMS Argo, corvette;
  • HNLMS Van Speijk (1842-1868), ex HMS Medusa, corvette;
  • HNLMS Van Speijk (1882-1940), first class screw propelled steam ship;
  • HNLMS Van Speijk (K3) (1940-1960), shore bombardment/escort ship;
  • HNLMS Van Speijk (1960-1965), auxiliary ship (ex Flores);
  • HNLMS Van Speijk (F802) (1965-1986), was the lead ship of her class of frigates.
  • HNLMS Van Speijk (1986-1995), experimental ship for testing with new fuel. Ex HNLMS Dokkum (Van Stralen class minesweeper);
  • HNLMS Van Speijk (F828), launched in 1994, is a Karel Doorman-class frigate.
